传说藏族人民是神猴与罗刹女的后裔。另一传说，当年文成公主入藏，发现吐蕃地形似魔女仰卧，需建寺以镇之。于是命人在“魔女”的12个关节处修建寺庙，为镇魔十二寺。

In Tibetan legends, the Tibetan people are the descendants of Rhesus Macaque and Luosha Lady. In another legend, when Princess Wencheng married with Tibetan King Songtsan, she found that the Tibetan terrain like a supine succuba. So the preincess commanded people to build twelve temples on twelve key points of the succuba's body to repress this succuba.
